Stats and Records of 500th Test Match of India

    match.

After the dominating performance by hosts in their 500th test match, many records were made in the historical test match.Defeating Kiwis in the match by 197 runs was the 3rd largest win by runs for India against Black Caps in cricket and 2nd at Green Park. 272 runs defeat at Auckland in 1968 was the biggest one, following the 216 runs win in 1976 at Chennai.
After this victory Virat Kohli has become the 4th Indian captain to win 11 successive tests without any defeat, equals MS Dhoni and progressing to the record of S Gavaskar (18 tests), Kapil Dev (17 tests), Mohd Azharuddin (14 tests). Under the Virat’s captaincy his team hasn’t loss any game from last 15 months, anywhere and at home also India has been unbeaten from previous 12 tests since December 2012, where India had lost the game against England in Kolkata by 7 wickets.
             Ashwin, after taking his 200th wicket. Became 2nd fastest to reach this mark 
             in world test cricket and fastest in India.
Ravi Ashwin has become the fastest not only Indian but also an Asian bowler to take 200 wickets in test cricket reaching to the mark in his 37th test match, eclipsing the Pakistani left arm seamer Waqar Younis record of 38 test matches, he is now the 2nd quickest 200 wickets taker all over the world following Clarie Grimmet (36 tests) of Australia. He is 9th in the list of highest wicket taker for his country, current Indian coach Anil Kumble (619 wickets) is leading the list.
This was the 5th time when Ashwin has taken 10 wickets in a test match, joint second most by an Indian bowler, Harbhajan Singh and both are following the leg spinner Kumble who achieved it 8 times for his team, M Muralitharan is far ahead of all, he has done this 22 times in his career leading the list of world test cricket, Ashwin is now the 3rd in overall test cricket list to take ten wickets for 5 times in 37 matches or fewer, George Lohmann (16 tests), Sydney Barnes (24 tests) and Clarie Grimmet (35 tests) leading the table in this terms and also it was the 19th time when Ashwin took 5 wickets in an innings, only 2 bowlers before him could achieve it within 37 tests, Sydney Barnes (24 times in 27 tests), Clarie Grimmet (21 times in 37 tests).
New Zealand all-rounder, Mitchell Santner hit his 1st fifty in International test cricket in the match and it was the 2nd one for Luke Ronchi who made the 2nd highest score (80) of his test career, which was the top score in the match, his highest was 88 on his debut against England. Santner has also become the 6th Kiwi player to hit more than 100 runs with 5 wicket hauls in a match. Both these players had 102 runs stand in 2nd innings of the game, which was the highest fifth wicket association for New Zealand at Kanpur in tests.
This Historical test has produced 1193 runs, not even a single century was being scored in the whole match, which was the 4th highest runs score in the history of world cricket without an individual hundred, 1272 runs was the highest between South Africa and England at Durban in 1927-28. 10 fifties were scored in the match which was the third highest without any ton, 13 fifties were the most, which were scored in that same match of SA vs England and 11 from India and Australia match in Mumbai in 1964-65.
10 Kiwi Batsmen have been dismissed LBW by the Indian bowlers, which has now become an Indian record to dismiss most no. of batsmen LBW in a match, beating 9 each against Australia in 2001 at Kolkata and Bangladesh in 2004 at Dhaka.

Ravindra Jadeja was nominated as the Man of the Match for the 3rd time in his career for his all round performance of scoring 92 runs and picking 6 very crucial wickets. 1st time in his test career he scored over 50 runs and 5 wicket hauls in an innings in a single match.
